IN GENERAL

Bar -S- Ranch, a nudist resort, rests on 400 acres of rolling meadows and woodlands. Guests are able to relax and find refuge from the pressures of urban life. Our resort adds a new dimension to the clothing optional experience by offering a secure and serene environment. We welcome the experienced and the uninitiated nudist to enjoy our hospitality.

People are curious about nudism. However, the nudist philosophy is simple: being nude is natural. Runners have found that nude running gives them a feeling of freedom and exhilaration that cannot be matched in an other way. Bar -S- Ranch offers this run to the general running community to give runners an opportunity to enjoy this interesting and different running experience, "naturally" or clothed.

Timing will be done with Champion Chip Timing technology, by Queen City Timing Services of Mooresville, NC. Each runner / walker must pick up his/ her chip, to be worn on your shoe at the Take Pride 5K on race day morning. Those who do not turn in their chip will be assessed a $35 fee. Please bring a towel to sit upon ( proper etiquette at a nudist resort).  "Great" T-shirts (first 150 guaranteed). Unique prizes, awards, food & refreshments, kegs of Budweiser beer and a drawing for a one year membership to the Bar-S. Runners/Walkers & their guest may enjoy the Bar-S for the day until 4:00 PM. A nude/non-nude photo will be taken to commemorate the event & may be purchased for $10, included with your entry or paid on race day. The race is ran on the Bar-S trails in a safe & secure environment , no spectators allowed. Enjoy running/walking "Naturally" or "clothed" on the exciting 5k XC trail through the cool woods.

If you begin to have problems or feel you cannot finish for whatever reason or need medical assistance, there will be trained medical personnel available for your aid.

If you come on the grounds to register for the 5K or have pre-registered for the 5K, plan on running or walking. If not, a grounds fee must be paid for the day or security will remove you from the grounds. We will be issuing wristbands. If bringing a guest, your spouse or significant other, wristbands may be purchased for a $5.00 fee included with your race application or race day.

To partake of the beer, you must be 21+ please and bring ID! This will be strictly enforced! This includes runners, walkers, guests and members.

No personal cameras, camera phones, drugs or firearms allowed, they will be confiscated!

Other activities are being planned for the day. Join us and  "Take Pride in Your Hide" and de-stress, NATURALLY & enjoy the day.

Nude running is just plain fun and inexpensive! You feel much better when you run nude. Because one's state of mind plays such an important part of one's health, there is no discounting the "physiological" boost of running nude!

On race day, the gate opens at 7:00 AM so you can get in a bit of relaxation before the race. Please try to arrive an hour before race time so you'll have plenty of time to park, check-in, receive your packet, hydrate, warm-up etc.

On race day, the resort will open to members, participants and guests only. General spectators will not be allowed access to the resort.

You may tent camp, RV or stay in one of our rentals at the Bar-S-Ranch if you like. The rates run from $10.00 to $30.00 based on your accommodations plus grounds fee. Call the Bar-S at 336-349-2456.. If we are full, we can give you information on motels in the area.

RACE COURSE

The 5K race course is definitely cross-country. It is a fun and challenging course laid out on gravel roads and trails that are enclosed entirely within the resort. Running naked on a trail through the woods creates a feeling of tranquility that most runners adore. Only one loop will be required to complete the 5K distance.

No pets, bicycles, strollers, baby joggers or unauthorized golf carts will be permitted on the course for safety reasons.

To be pre-registered, your entry form must be postmarked on or before July 18, 2008

$30.00 for late registering after July 18, 2008 and on race day.

You may register in person on race day, July 26, 2008.
You may register online with a credit card by midnight July 24 at ActiveZach.com. (A fee will apply).

It seems a bit odd to be handing out clothing for a clothing optional event. However, runners  and walkers will treasure their "Take Pride in Your Hide" shirts and will love to wear them. Register early to be guaranteed a race t-shirt. (Only first 150 guaranteed)

RACE PHOTOS

We're sorry, but cameras will not be permitted within Bar-S-Ranch Resort on race day. They will be confiscated! I'm sure you understand that there are participants who do not wish their nude photos to be owned by others. If you would like to have a photo to commemorate the race, a group nude and non-nude photo will be taken after the event of those who wish to participate and may be purchased for a $10.00 fee at the race picture booth, include with entry fee or pay on race day.

AFTER THE RACE

Complimentary food and refreshments will be served to participants. Guests and members must pay $5.00 for a wristband to partake. Volunteers will be complimentary and receive a free wrist band. Participants and guests may enjoy the pool, hot tub, and sauna following the race (nude only). Additionally, there is sand and water volleyball, a ping-pong and pool table. All participants and guests are invited to stay until 4pm and enjoy the Bar-S activities.

SHOULD I BRING ANYTHING?

Don't forget to bring a towel. At any nudist facility, proper etiquette requires the placement of a towel between you and anything you sit upon. Because of this, you'll notice a towel draped over the shoulder of most nudists as they walk around the resort. That is why the towel became known as the "only" true article of nudist clothing. In addition, it's useful to have that towel around to dry off after you enjoy the shower, pool, or hot tub. If you do forget a towel, you can purchase one in the office. It's always a good idea to bring a couple of towels.

Please bring your ID and your guest bring theirs.

WE NEED SPONSORS

One of the keys to a successful race is good sponsorship. Most races are held to promote awareness of an organization, and to raise money for a good cause. Fees paid by participants only cover the basic expenses of a race, and sponsorship is essential for a race to survive and prosper.
